From 1980 to 1997 the drummer of Helix was the infamous Greg "Fritz" Hinz.

In 1998 Greg moved to Florida and while playing in a cover band at Disneyland, who did he run into but Gerry Finn, guitar player for the Killer Dwarfs, who also played for Helix for a time. Gerry was in a disco band called Super Freak. Gerry ended up going back to Canada, and Fritz ended up being the new drummer! The bongo player in the band is the half-brother of "Little Ricky" from the Lucille Ball show, and every Wednesday night they play on a floating casino owned by his father, who was the publicist for Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.

They have backed up the Goo-Goo Dolls, Aerosmith, and Page / Plant.
