1990 - Back for Another Taste

After a 3 year hiatus we finally released the "Back for Another Taste" album. In Canada we were on the Capitol label, in the States we were on Grudge Records, and in Europe on GWR.

Grudge eventually ended up going under and taking off with about $80,000 U.S. of our money which we have yet to get back and probably never will.

Brent Doerner was replaced by Denny Balicki, an American from New York City. Denny was a great addition to the band and he got along great with everyone. This was a real plus because we had not had a membership change in many years and did not know what to expect.

Dean Cameron of Capitol Records really went to bat for us on this album. Dean was the one that signed us to Capital in the first place and he had continued to have a close relationship with the band over the years.

The first single from the album was "The Storm", a rocker in the Led Zeppelin vein. For this song we shot the video at the old Toronto brick works where we had filmed "Rock You" many years before. The second track from the album was "Running Wild in the 21st Century" and this earned us an award for "Heavy Metal Video of the Year" on Much Music.

Once again we toured the U.S. extensively through showcase clubs and through Canada in showcase clubs as well. Occasionally there were the "big shows" that we used to play, but music by this time had changed dramatically, and many hard rock and heavy metal acts were either throwing in the towel or coming off the road.

In Europe metal was still happening, and we ended up touring with one of my heros, Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. Our first date was in Budapest, Hungary . We had to drive straight from London, England to get there which took us 3 days of non-stop driving. Much Music sent a camera crew over to film the first part of the tour in Hungary and Austria. Someone stole their camera gear on the plane so they were unable to film until we reached Viennna.

They had to leave before the next show, so basically they just filmed us walking around sight-seeing! The video which resulted in a special on the station was called "Waltzing in Vienna ".

At the end of the tour we found ourselves in England where we did some headline dates of our own, most notably at the new Marquee and in Redding for the Hell's Angels. We were just about to return home when we received a phone call from our manager informing us that we had a bonified hit in Canada with the song, "Good to the Last Drop" and we needed to get our asses home as fast as possible to film a video.

Upon returning to Canada we immediately shot the video for "Good to the Last Drop", once again with director Phil Kates, who also directed "The Storm" and "Running Wild in the 21st Century". The song was climbing the charts in Canada. Riding a wave of momentum created by the song, we toured Canada through showcase bars.
