Here's a couple of photos that go way back to around 1978. We're at the band shell at Ontario Place by the lake. I have Super 8 of this day as well.

There's 3 little girls dancing out front, which always reminds me of one scene from Spinal Tap where David Ste. Hubbins comments, "I told them to bill us ahead of the puppet show!"

The members of the band at that time were Brian & Brent Doerner, Paul Hackman, Keith (Bert) Zurbrigg, and myself. The song I have on Super 8 is Breaking Loose, from the White Lace & Black Leather album ironically.

We had the habit of naming albums and then saying to ourselves, "Hey! That would make a great song title!"

During this time our music was evolving, and so were our clothes. I'm dressed like your everyday Lumberjack, and Brent and Paul are wearing what I dubbed "The Bunny Suits", which were one piece suits popular at that time for some reason. Bert had on his sailor suit minus the sailor's hat. His was more the Sunday driver, arm-out-the-window-kinda-hat.

The show ended about 45 minutes before last call at the beer tent. Randy was there that night with a bunch of "rounders" from the East End of London, one being "4 Door Kirby." Randy called them "rounders" 'cos they were always trying to "get around" the law. LOL.

As soon as the show ended we headed for the beer tent and ordered as much beer as they would allow us (which was quite a bit back then). We proceeded to pound it back and within a short amount of time everyone (except Randy-he didn't drink) was pissed.

We finally were kicked out of the bar and started to make our way towards the Exit gates when suddenly 4 Door burst out, "I'M GOING TO CLIMB ONTARIO PLACE!!!", whipped off his shirt, jumped in the water and started to swim towards the big ball with the architectural exoskeleton. He was trying to jump out of the water and grab the first rung (without much luck) when along came the harbor police, barking through a megaphone, "YOU THERE! OUT OF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY!!!"

They floated over to where he was still splashing and hauled him roughly out of the water. I can't remember what happened to him after that.

2 weeks left in Paradise! Made some great friends here and ended up being part of a great song. My buddy Gord Prior is presently in his "genius phase" and has hit his groove with this song: Stand Up. Also working with Sean Kelly, and of course my own guys-Daryl leading the charge-in putting together the nect HELIX album. I couldn't get too motivated when Fritz was dying...my heart just wasn't in it. We've now entered a new era of the band, although ironically we might work outsome old Hackman licks with Sean, which would mean Paul & Friz would be partial writers on the songs.

In April INDIE TUNZ RECORDS will be releasing the song WOMEN WHISKEY & SIN from the WHITE LACE & BLACK LEATHER album 1981. This is the song that eventually got us signed to Capitol/E.M.I. U.S. How? First it became a Number One British import. This gained the attention of Mark Putterford@Sounds Magazine and Paul Suter@KERRANG. This got the attention of David Muntz of E.M.I. in the U.K. England at the time was experiencing the "second wave of metal" with groups like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and of course-MOTORHEAD. On our next album, NO REST FOR THE WICKED, Muntz urged Dean Camerson of Capitol/E.M.I. Canada to sign us. Then Dean Cameron got us signed to the U.S. label, 'cos he didn't think Capitol would give the Canadian arm of the company enough money to market us. He was right. By the time we reached the Wild in the Streets album, Capitol was advancing us over $500,000 per disc.
